Bioheat – What is Bioheat?

Briema Bioheat refers to heating oil that is combined with biodiesel. This petroleum based oil is one of the renewable fuels in the US market. It is obtained from various natural sources such as animal fats, soybean oil, and corn oil. These fats and oils have fatty acids, which are used to produce the biodiesel. The “B” term is used to indicate the amount of biodiesel found in bioheat. Untainted biodiesel is referred to as B100 and is made up of 100% biodiesel.

  • A combination of 90% petroleum diesel and 10% biodiesel is referred to as B10
  • A combination of 95% petroleum diesel and 5% biodiesel is referred to as B5
  • A combination of 98% petroleum diesel and 2% biodiesel is referred to as B2

Bioheat Use in Old Furnaces

The B5 and B2 bioheat blends can be compared to traditional heating oil. This makes them suitable for use in several furnaces without requiring any alterations. Many heating system producers are willing to honor warranties for furnaces that use bioheat. One of the main disadvantages of biodiesel it can cause the release of accumulated sludge and this can clog oil filters. This makes it necessary to change the oil filters frequently but the most effective solution is to get rid of the sludge. A furnace will work efficiently once the sludge is eliminated.

Bioheat Benefits

This is one of the best renewable energy sources and it is easily available in the United States. The country can reduce its dependence on imports by exploiting this oil. According to an EIA report, the country consumes about 8.5 billion gallons of oil. If the B5 blend was used, the country can save up to 425 million gallons of oil. The oil emits fewer greenhouse gases compared to traditional heating oils. This makes it a healthy alternative for both the environment and individuals. The products used to manufacture bioheat are available locally and this creates more jobs for the American people. Using bioheat also supports the country’s farmers.
